Summer Worship: One Service 10:00 am

(May through Labor Day)

Regular services resume September 9th, 2018

Two Services

9:00 am & 11:00 am Worship

Worship at Excelsior Covenant is the centerpiece of our life together. The experience of coming together to worship God is what shapes our life, community and service – it’s a meaningful and rich experience – one that focuses not on us but on God (at least that’s what we’re working towards) and on the good news of Jesus Christ’s redeeming love.

We worship in two distinctly different styles, which can be described as “traditional” and “contemporary”. Both are centered on Christ, are approachable and honest in their leadership, lacking in pretension, child-friendly, joyful in expression, and include preaching that is biblical and relevant to your daily life. At least once a month we celebrate Holy Communion in our services and all who desire to follow Christ are invited to participate. Make one service your worship home or float between the two for a rich and varied experience.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During Service

Worship is about one hour long. We use music, video, scripture, and relevant teaching to communicate the powerful message of Jesus Christ. It is our desire that you not only understand and enjoy worship, but also leave able to apply what you experienced to your daily life. Come as you are. You will see every kind of dress from suits to jeans.

When The Offering Is Received

Giving our time, talent, and money is an act of worship for followers of Christ who call Excelsior Covenant Church their home.

Concerning Communion

Communion is offered the first Sunday of each month. You do not need to be a member of Excelsior Covenant Church to participate. We only ask that you have made a decision to follow Jesus Christ.

WHERE TO

Worship

Ushers will hand you a bulletin and help you find a seat if you'd like assistance. Relax and enjoy worship.

Go With Your Children

Children of all ages are welcome in our worship services! Childcare is available for infants through three years, starting at 9:20 am and ending 10 minutes after your service concludes.

Early in the service children are invited forward for a special children's message. After this time, children may return to sit with their families, or attend children's church (age 3 years - K) in the nursery area, at the end of the west hallway, upper level. Please register your child at the kiosk outside the childcare rooms.

Get a Bible

Everyone is encouraged to bring a Bible or use an app on their phone. Bibles are available during worship services. If you don't own a Bible, you are welcome to take the one you use during worship home with you.

Go If You Want Prayer

People are available at the front of the sanctuary and the southeast corner of the activity center after the services and would love to pray with you. You can also write your prayer request on the connection card in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate or the black boxes in the welcome center and south entrance to the activity center. The Prayer Room is locate at the bottom of the east stairs and is available to anyone whenever the church is open.

Contemporary worship

This is an informal service in the Activity Center with music that leans to more current expressions. A worship band leads music that you'll probably recognize if you listen to contemporary Christian radio or podcasts - the songs you sing along with in the car. At the same time, the 9:00 service brings back classic songs of worship that we don't want the next generation to miss out on.

Traditional Worship

At this service, in the Sanctuary, we celebrate God through the use of hymns and songs coming from both our church’s liturgical and revival roots – majestic hymns of praise accompanied by the organ, inspiring choral anthems, and heartfelt songs of adoration to the quieter strains of the piano. This service has life and joy that celebrates where we’ve come from in our Christian traditions, and where we’re going: forward together with Jesus.
