Worship Services
Sunday Worship at ECC
Worship at Excelsior Covenant is the centerpiece of our life together. The experience of coming together to worship God is what shapes our life, community and service – it’s a meaningful and rich experience – one that focuses not on us but on God (at least that’s what we’re working towards) and on the good news of Jesus Christ’s redeeming love.
During the ministry season from September to May we worship in two distinctly different styles, which can be described as “traditional” and “informal”. Both are centered on Christ, are approachable and honest in their leadership, lacking in pretension, child-friendly, joyful in expression, and include preaching that is biblical and relevant to your daily life. At least once a month we celebrate Holy Communion in our services and all who desire to follow Christ are invited to participate. Make one service your worship home or float between the two for a rich and varied experience.
8:30 Informal
This is an informal service with music that blends classic worship songs with more current expressions. A worship band leads music that you’ll probably recognize if you listen to contemporary Christian radio or podcasts – those songs you sing along with in the car. At the same time, the 8:30 service brings back many of the classic songs of worship that we don’t want the next generation to miss out on.
11:00 Traditional
At this service we celebrate God through the use of hymns and songs coming from both our church’s liturgical and revival roots – majestic hymns of praise accompanied by the organ, inspiring choral anthems, and heartfelt songs of adoration to the quieter strains of the piano. This service has life and joy that celebrates where we’ve come from in our Christian traditions, and where we’re going: forward together with Jesus.
Communion is served the first Sunday of each month and is open to all who seek to follow Jesus Christ. Infant/toddler care is available.
